Week 1: A Member Called on Mission
Scripture: Matthew 9:35-38 1. Who created the church and what was the cost of the church being established? 2. What does it mean that we, as members of the church, are called to be on mission? 3. What do you see when you look at other people? 4. What do you believe about the ability for all men to be saved? 5. What do you pray concerning the salvation of those around you? 6. What are you going to do to fulfill the call that God has placed on your life as a believer in Him and as a member of His church? Week 3: A Giving Member
Scripture: Isaiah 55:1-7
1. How does giving reveal the nature of God and our relationship with Him? 2. In what ways do we tangibly know that God is a giving God and He calls us to be the same? 3. How serious is God in regards to those that follow Him being generous in their giving? How do you know? 4. What is the difference between one who gives out of obligation and one who is a "cheerful giver"? 5. Take time to count the blessing that you have been given. What blessings has God given to you? 6. Are you a giving member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? Week 5: A Non-Self Serving Member
Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11
1. Why are we called to sometimes set aside our preferences within the church? 2. What can happen if we begin to demand that our preferences are met? 3. How is the word "servant" that is used within the Bible different from the way in which the world uses it? 4. Why were believers in Christ made free? 5. How is Christ the example by which we are to understand what it means to be a non-self serving member? 6. Are you a non-self serving member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? Week 7: A Healthy Member
Scripture: Romans 5:6-11
1. What does a healthy member look like? 2. Do you take your family and pray for the church and for those that are in it? 3. Have you ever been discipled? Have you ever discipled others? How is this a reflection of a healthy member? 4. What are things that you can do to encourage others within the church? 5. How would all of us becoming healthy members change the way in which this church lives? 6. Are you a healthy member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? |
Week 2: A Lively Member
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12, 27-28
1. What is the difference between treating church like a country club member and being a lively member of the church? 2. How do small disagreements fracture the church? What are things that you can do to make sure this is never the case? 3. What is holding you back from being a lively member? What can you do about it? 4. Why is the concept of an "inactive church member" an oxymoron? 5. What is church membership founded on? 6. What are you going to do to fulfill the call that God has placed on your life as a believer in Him and as a member of His church? Week 4: A Unifying Member
Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-3
1. What does the term "Christian Unity" mean? 2. How does the world around us know that we belong to Christ? 3. How do we know that unity is a deep cry of Jesus' heart? 4. What even allows for Christian unity to exist between believers? 5. What are some of the comparisons that the Bible uses to emphasize Christian unity and how we are to act to have it? 6. Are you a unifying member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? Week 6: A Praying Member
Scripture: 1 John 5:14-15
1. What is the relationship between the providence of God and prayer? 2. Do our prayers have any real effect within the world and in our lives? 3. What is the difference between a believer who proactively prays and a believer who reactively prays? 4. If prayer is supposed to be like breathing for a believer, then why does it seem so hard to do it? 5. What ultimately is the reason that prayers are answered? 6. Are you a praying member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? Week 8: A Treauring Member
Scripture: John 13:1-17
1. Why is salvation a gift? 2. How is the church a gift? What from scripture leads you to believe this? 3. What is the difference between a "country club" mentality member and a treasuring member? 4. How does our treasuring of the church lead us to glorify God even more? 5. What do you think is holding you back from being all that the Scriptures call you to be? 6. Are you a treasuring member? If not, what are things that you can do today to become one? |
