This book is a tool to encourage you and help you build confidence so that you can boldly approach the throne of God. Because in the end, prayer doesn’t change God, it changes us and the more time we spend in prayer the more we will reflect the One we spend time with.

In the following pages there is an explanation of the different types of prayer, examples of them in Scripture, how to apply them, and pages to journal your own versions of the prayers. The seven different types of prayer covered are: Adoration, Lament, Thanksgiving, Petition, Deliverance, Contrition and Guidance.

LAMENT PRAYER BOOK

This is a free resource by Trauma Healing Basics organization, created by the team at Trauma Healing Institute. It is a took that helps you cry out to God when you're in pain. 

As we have explore lament as a type of prayer we understand that crying out to God in seasons of grief, hurt, and sorrow can actually be a form of worship; instead of hiding those feelings from God, we can bring it all to Him and allow Him to comfort us and help us heal.

1. What is a prayer of guidance?
2. Why are these such important prayers? How often should we be praying them?
3. What is wisdom and how does it relate to prayers of guidance?
4. Have you ever had a prayer for guidance in your life? What was the result?
5. Why is it important that our prayers for guidance finish with a decree that it is according to God's will and not our own? Why is it all the more important that we mean it?

Week 1: Prayer of Adoration

Scripture: Hebrews 12:28-29
​​1. Why is prayer important in the life of the believer?
2. What does prayer look like in your life today? How important is it in your life?
3. What does it mean to adore God? What does it look like?
4. What are things in your life that can and should lead you to adore God?
5. What does it mean to truly worship and adore God?
​6. Do you pray prayers of adoration? If not, what are things that you can do today to help you do so more often?

Week 3: Prayer of Petition

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

1. What specific blessings in your life are you most grateful for?
2. How has God's presence been evident in your daily life?
3. Who are the people you want to thank God for?
4. What challenges have you overcome that make you especially appreciative of God's goodness?
5. Are there any recent experiences that have deepened your sense of gratitude?

Week 5: Prayer of Deliverance

Scripture: Psalm 32:7

1. What is a prayer of deliverance?
2. How have you seen prayers of deliverance within your own life?
3. Why is there a certain level of comfort when we give a prayer of deliverance?
4. Does deliverance mean that God will remove you from the situation that you are in? Why or why not?
   
5. What is a proper way in which we can understand what a prayer of deliverance is? Why is it important to have a proper understanding of what this kind of prayer is?
   

Week 2: Prayer of Thanksgiving

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

5. How does lament drive us deeper into God?
